Metabolic disorders
Metabolic disorders include diabetes, dyslipidaemia (lipoprotein metabolism disorder), gout, thyroid disorders. These illnesses are often caused by genetic predisposition, but can also be acquired with no family history. A predisposition and an unhealthy lifestyle can trigger metabolic syndrome without the patient realising it.
As with high blood pressure, metabolic disorders can be present for a long time before being diagnosed by chance, or due to secondary illnesses that cause the patient discomfort.
