Cardiac disorders
Heart disease (cardiovascular disease) can be diagnosed in most patients by conducting a thorough patient history and physical examination.
Heart disease can manifest itself as pain in the left chest area behind the sternum, in the back, in the left shoulder and on the left side of the neck. Indications of cardiovascular disease can be a significant reduction in physical performance, shortness of breath at rest and during exercise, swelling of the legs, discoloration of lips and fingernails, as well as changes to the entire skin.
This also includes high blood pressure. Heart diseases often result from an abnormal blood pressure regulation system. The problem is that high blood pressure is often not recognised by patients, since symptoms can take years to become noticeable.
The causes of high blood pressure can be sustained stress, malfunction of the hormonal system or organic changes, such as kidney or renal artery disease.
Checking blood pressure is therefore always part of our thorough physical examination.
